David’s interest in computing started at the age of 8 when his curiosity helped him to improve his performance at computer games by understanding and amending their structure. This inquisitiveness has served David well throughout his IT career. An early introduction to ransomeware sparked his interest in Cyber Security and led to him attending the Cyber Security Challenge UK and becoming a Cyber Security Champion. Earlier in 2025 David was recognised as one of 6 Top Cyber Security leaders. David explained his approach to leadership to ensure that his team are successful in improving and maintaining Shropshire Council’s many IT systems. His team face multiple cyber attacks per second every day of the year and strive to keep our data safe. We all enjoyed hearing about David’s enthusiasm for his area of work.
