The 2024 US Elections: How Will They Work and What Is at Stake? – Dr Sarah Hampson

In this 60 minute talk, Dr Hampson, an American Politics specialist, discusses the mechanics and complexities of the US presidential and congressional elections happening in November of 2024 and puts them into recent historical context. She will also outline some of the big issues being decided on state ballots this year, where the key battlegrounds lie, and what the results of the presidential election in particular might mean for the US and the rest of the world.

A Central European family history from the late 1700’s to Shropshire in 2024 – Mr Chris Konstan

This talk will cover the story of one family’s history from Switzerland in the 1700’s, through the Prussian/Russian wars of the mid 1800’s, the First and Second World Wars, Communism and eventually end in Shropshire in 2024. It will explain how politics and alliances changed Central Europe over 200 years and how everyone, today, continues to be affected.
