Our normal format is to have a talk every two months at the wonderful Shropshire Conference Centre.
Through this difficult time we felt it was right to have a monthly meeting as we only have access to each other on zoom.
In April we had a marvellous talk by Alexander Clement, a senior valuer and Asian art specialist at Halls fine art auctioneers and valuers and in May by the Shrewsbury town crier Martin Wood, who spoke about the history of Shrewsbury buildings.
Most recently in July, Sally Bevington gave an excellent talk on the origins of the American Civil War and insight into the way in which the polarisation in the USA today has some of its roots in that war.
We are always so grateful to our speakers, but maybe even more than normal to those who are giving talks on zoom, where lack of ‘live’ responses during the talk can be off putting!
