Our Group were extremely fortunate to have a very topical talk on the US Elections entitled How Will They Work and What is at Stake?
In her talk, Dr Hampson, an American Politics specialist, discussed the mechanics and complexities of the US presidential and congressional elections happening on 5th November 2024. She explained recent historical context and outlined some of the big issues being decided on State ballots this year. She highlighted where the key battlegrounds lie, and what the results of presidential election in particular might mean for the US and the rest of the world. We all came away much better informed about the difference between State and Federal powers and will be watching the results with interest.
