16 people with dementia from different causes have attended., in most cases with family or friends.

In March our Medical Director Professor Tony Elliott gave a very informative talk on dementia, possible causes and ongoing research. The power point presentation by Professor Elliott can be found under RESOURCES.
Dr Eric Deeson who has Alzheimer’s, spoke of living well with dementia and the involvement he has with the Alzheimer’s society especially in relation to research.
Hayley Hogan, who heads a Dementia Voices team for the Alzheimer’s society in Wales, contributed a very useful talk and was very enthusiastic about the success of our first meeting. Thank you to all of you!
Our second meeting followed the pattern of meetings going forward and we were delighted to have a talk by a well known local speaker Richard Bifield who gave an excellent presentation on the best of Shropshire’s landscapes and heritage. Though appreciated by all, there was considerable enthusiasm by the engineers (at least 3) in the group as the works of Thomas Telford and others were discussed!
Afterwards several of the group moved to the dining room to have lunch together.

Some responses we have received are:

“ This is just what we’ve been looking for”
“ Tell your friends in Australia (PALZ GLOBAL) that PALZ UK is a great success!”

Participants come from many backgrounds including the world of business, medicine, teaching, engineering and counselling.
Already supportive friendships have begun.
The availability of the dining room has meant that those wishing to continue conversations begun at the meetings can have an enjoyable chat together over a very reasonably priced meal.
We welcome attendance by those from professional and charitable backgrounds who would like to learn more about the group. Some individuals with a personal interest also come and this helps to spread the word of what PALZ can offer.
